Dr. Mike Grindstaff attended the University of Oklahoma on an academic scholarship for two years then transferred to Northeastern State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Organismic Biology with a minor in Chemistry, graduating with honors in 2000. He began optometry school in the fall where he received unmatched clinical training with the Cherokee Nation Indian Health Services clinics.
He was awarded several honors and scholarships during optometry school and was a member of the Northeastern State University honor society and Beta Sigma Kappa national optometric honor society. He completed his doctorate with honors in 2004 and began practicing in Oklahoma City.
He later opened his own private practice in Edmond, Oklahoma. Where he had previously attended high school and met his wife. After 10 years of growing and operating that practice with his wife, he sold his practice to a classmate.
He is now fulfilling his dream of living and raising his daughter in Durango. Dr. Grindstaff enjoys all things outdoors both summer and winter in Durango. He enjoys motorsports and travel as well. However, he loves going on adventures with his wife, daughter, and dog Bodi the best.
